Q. Which are the SmartZone Controllers?A. The Ruckus Networks models: SZ-100, SZ-300, SCG-200(running firmware 3.2 or above, Virtual SmartZone (vSZ) are classified as SmartZone controllers.
Q. What information does the SmartZone Entitlement file contain?
A. The SmartZone entitlement file is ".bin" file. The file name will be in the format xxxxxxxxxx.bin (xxxxxxx- serial number of the Smart Zone Controller). It contains the latest activated support dates and the AP (Access Point) license count that is mapped to the serial number.
Q. Why is a SmartZone Entitlement file required?
A. Having an updated Entitlement file on the controller will:
- Update the RTU information (if mapped to the serial number)
- Update the latest activated support dates on the License section of the SmartZone controller GUI. Having an active support on the SmartZone controller is required to upgrade the controller and it's AP's
- Update the AP license count on the License section of the SmartZone controller GUI. Having an updated AP license count on the SmartZone GUI is required to add more AP`s to the SmartZone Managed network
- Update the Data Plane (vSZ-D) license count on the License section of the Virtual SmartZone (vSZ) controller GUI. Having an updated vSZ-D license count on the SmartZone GUI is required for the Data Plane to connect to the Virtual SmartZone (vSZ) controller
Q. How do I get the support Entitlement File for SmartZone Controllers?
A. The Entitlement file for SmartZone Controllers is downloaded from Ruckus Support portal.
If you are the End-User or the Partner/Re-seller trying to download the Entitlement file for the SmartZone controller
NOTE: The following steps work only if the controller serial number is registered under the same organizations account as the Support portal ID
Log into your Ruckus Support portal account and click on the LiMan (Smart License Manager) page
The SmartZone Controllers are registered on the LiMan portal
Click on the serial number to view the Licenses and the Support mapped to the serial number
If the license and/or support information in the Support Portal page does not match with the information on controller GUI, a new support file can be uploaded to the controller GUI.
Click on the " License" button, and a file with .bin will be downloaded (size <200 KB)
The file can be uploaded at the SmartZone controller GUI >> Administration >> License
If you are the Ruckus Partner/Re-seller trying to download Entitlement file for the End-customer
NOTE: The partner/re-seller should have processed the Support or License order for the End-customer and once the order is processed, the controller serial number is/should be registered under the End customer's account.

Log into Ruckus Support portal account using your partner/re-seller ID

Click on "View Customers" link on the Ruckus Support portal page

Click on the name of the End-Customer account.

Click on "Switch to Account" button to access the end usersupport portal

Once in the end user customer portal, click on the LiMan (Smart License Manager) page

The SmartZone Controllers the belong to end user are registered in the LiMan portal

Click on the serial number to view the Licenses and the Support mapped to the serial number

If the license and/or support information in the Support Portal page does not match with the information on controller GUI, a new support file can be uploaded to the controller GUI.
